It's
the Media Event of the Year!
Mark your calendar: September 4 – 6, 2003
Mark your calendar and prepare for an adventure into a “Brave New Media
World” at the National Federation of Press Women’s annual communications
conference at the Wyndham Hotel, Wilmington, Delaware, September 4-6, 2003.
NFPW’s national conference offers three action-packed days
of speakers, workshops, activities and tours that will fulfill your
expectations for professional development, networking with colleagues from
across the US, historical/cultural enrichment and, of course, tax-free
shopping. When you prepare to attend this cutting-edge conference, plan to
take a big notebook, an appetite for new ideas, an item to contribute to the
NFPW Silent Auction and comfortable shoes.
During the conference, Delaware Press Association, NFPW’s
host affiliate, will take you on an exploration of the ever-changing
political, economic and technological environment in which professional
communicators live and work today. Dynamic presenters such as Pulitzer
Prize-winning bio-warfare author Judith Miller, Ranking Member of the
Foreign Relations Committee US Senator Joe Biden (D-Del.), and HBO Films
Production VP Jay Roewe guarantee to engage their audiences from the get-go!
Hospitality Suite
You’ll enjoy gathering in the DPA Hospitality Suite for networking; to
bid on books, CDs, shirts and items representative of various states in the
NFPW Silent Auction (all proceeds go to the NFPW Education Fund); for maps
and information about downtown Wilmington and regional
attractions/destinations; or simply to relax and unwind.
Conference Bookstore
The conference offers an opportunity to read a short excerpt from
something you’ve written when “Readings by NFPW and Delaware Authors” takes
place in the Conference Bookstore on Thursday afternoon. Or maybe you’d like
to sell a book, manual, CD or video you’ve written or produced. Please
indicate on the Tours & Activities Registration Form if you’d like to
participate in either of these opportunities.
Pre-conference Tours:
Sept. 1 Distinctly Delaware (Fort Delaware and Old New Castle)
Sept. 2 The du Pont Family Legacy (Christ Church, Hagley, Winterthur, Hotel
du Pont)
Sept. 3 Arts and Flowers (Brandywine River Museum, Longwood Gardens)
Post-conference Tour:
Sept. 7 Historic Philadelphia
The 2003 NFPW conference is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to participate in
a broad-spectrum media event and to network with local, national and
international communicators and media professionals. Whether you’ve been to
numerous NFPW conferences or never have attended an NFPW national event, the
members of Delaware Press Association invite you to “Discover Delaware” and
look forward to welcoming you to the First State in September.
